Meet Dani McClure

'My path to painting began with a career in interior design 13 years ago. I joined the company my mother started and eventually became her partner in the business. Curating art for our clients' homes was a significant part of each job and one that I came to really enjoy. We would travel around the country to places like California, Atlanta, and Charleston looking for just the right pieces. In the process, I started to feel a connection to certain artists and types of art. I found that I loved the bright, beautiful colors we found in the South, the calm, neutral aesthetic of California and the coastal vibe so prevalent here in New England. Looking at the art in these places brought me joy, a feeling of peace, and an escape from reality for a moment.

As a designer, I found that I loved mixing colors to come up with just the right tone for our clients' homes. Creating my own pieces of art felt like a natural transition. Once I picked up a brush and began mixing acrylic paints, I felt like I unlocked a part of myself that I didn’t know existed. I wasn’t sure if the creative inspiration I felt when designing a home would work its way into my painting but it did. It quickly became a passion and something more than just a pastime. I continued to paint in my spare time and was surprised but so grateful that people seeing my art connected to it. There is nothing more gratifying than someone telling me that one of my pieces made them smile, brought them a sense of calm, brings them joy'
